Muhammad Metwally al-Shaarawi (Rabi` al-Awwal 15, 1329 AH / April 15, 1911 - 22 Safar 1419 AH / June 17, 1998) [3] A former Egyptian religious scholar and endowment minister. He is considered one of the most famous interpreters of the meanings of the Noble Qur’an in the modern era, as he worked on interpreting the Noble Qur’an in simplified and general ways, which made him able to reach a larger segment of Muslims in all parts of the Arab world. Some called him the imam of preachers.

Mohamed Metwali Chaârawi (en arabe: Mohamed Metwally El-Shaarawy), né le 5 avril 1911 et mort le 17 juin 1998, est un théologien musulman et homme politique égyptien. Il a joui d'une grande popularité en Égypte grâce à ses apparitions télévisuelles régulières dans le cadre d'émissions consacrées à l'islam, et a joué un grand rôle dans la diffusion de l'islam rigoriste dans son pays et, au-del dans le monde arabe. Il est l'un des «symboles de la culture populaire égyptienne» des années 1970, 80 et 90.
