- XD Entertainment's newest JRPG, Sword of Convallaria, has rapidly crossed the five million download threshold.
- Set in the Iria locale, the game adeptly mirrors the signature characteristics of the JRPG genre.
- With stunning pixel graphics and strategic grid-based warfare, it's an irresistible offering for JRPG admirers.
Sword of Convallaria, XD Entertainment's latest JRPG (the creators of Torchlight: Infinite), has topped over five million downloads since it was launched last week. A special log-in event to celebrate will run from August 9th to August 18th (EDT), offering ten Secret Fates resources.
Though Sword of Convallaria has earned favorable reviews, it's worth noting that the world of JRPG can be challenging to navigate. Despite the controversy over distinguishing it from Western RPGs, the two genres undeniably follow divergent conventions and strategies.
As we highlighted in our review, if you've been hunting for a solid, true-to-form JRPG adaptation for mobile platforms, Sword of Convallaria, with its vintage graphics, grid-based battles, and familiar classes, should fit the bill. However, it might not sway your opinion if you're not a fan of JRPGs.
Regardless of your stance on JRPGs, it's intriguing to see a game like Convallaria garner such popularity. We suggested earlier when discussing Arknights: Endfield that future blockbusters would likely be fully 3D open-world RPGs. Yet, the success of Sword of Convallaria suggests that there's room for smaller, visually appealing RPG games too.
