Olinda was awarded a National Monument and World Heritage Site by UNESCO

his application was built as part of the extension project: "Applying the Use of New Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Historic Town of Olinda" developed at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. The Historic Centre of Olinda is a region stuffed stories, tradition and was fundamental event stage for understanding what took Pernambuco and Brazil to become what they are today. The site was declared a National Monument and World Heritage Site by UNESCO, given its historical and cultural wealth. The Historic Centre of Olinda annually attracts a significant amount of tourists and school students looking for: i) know the beauty of its buildings of past centuries; ii) be dazzled by the sea view provided by the prime location of the city; iii) consume handicraft products; iv) know their history. The discipline of history is often associated with old and static in terms of teaching and learning. The objective of this project is to investigate how the use of new information and communication technologies (ICTs) can be used as tools for teaching history. ICTs can provide a fun and interactive way to teach history. The main objective of this project is to produce digital tools m-learning 'Related Olinda Historic Centre as a way to meet the social demand for dissemination and exploitation of this heritage. At university, this project aims the relationship between the Department of Informatics and Statistics, the Department of Education and the Graduate Program in History.
