The party has been at the forefront of all major national struggles and movements of the nation and country, including the Language Movement, Liberation War and the fight for democracy. It stands for the people, especially its disadvantaged and marginalized segments, and has made a name for itself for taking Bangladesh in a progressive direction over the years.
