Biography of the Author Sirah Nabawiyah
Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi. Complete, Ali bin Ahmad bin Sa'id bin Hazm. Born in Cordoba (Qurthub), Andalusia, 384 AH (994 AD). He was known for his strong memorization, as well as his smart and sharp mind. He is also known to be sincere in his work, kind and compassionate. Since childhood, he studied hadith from his teachers, Ahmad bin Muhammad al-Jasur (d. 401) and al-Hamdani. As an adult, he was raised and educated by Abu al-Husain al-Fasi, a man who was known to be pious and ascetic. Scientifically, he is an expert in the field of interpretation of the Koran, hadith, rijal (hadith narrators), fiqh and fiqh ushul, philosophy, literature, and history.
Ibn Hazm was very productive in writing books and essays (short treatises). According to the confession of his son, Abu Rafi 'al-Fadli bin Ali, throughout his life Ibn Hazm had written approximately 400 book titles covering approximately 80,000 pages. These books concern various disciplines. However, not all of his books could be found because many were burned and destroyed by people who did not agree with Ibn Hazm's thoughts.
Some of Ibn Hazm's important and famous works include: al-Fishal fî al-milal wa al-ahwâ 'wa an-nihal, al-muhallâ (11 juz), Jamharah al-ansâb, an-nâsikh wa almansûkh, hajjah al-wadâ ', at-Taqrîb li hadd al-mantiq wa al-madkhal ilaih, mulkhis ibthâl al-Qiyâs, Fadhâ'il alandalus, Ummahât al-Khulafâ', rasâ'il ibn hazm, al-ihkâm li Ushûl al-ahkâm, al- mufâdhalah baina ash-shahâbah, mudâwah an-nufûs, Thauq al-hamâmah, and Jawâmi 'as-sîrah an-nabawiyah (a translated edition in Indonesian published by Pustaka Alvabet under the title Intisari Sirah Nabawiyah).
Ibn Hazm died in Manta Lisham on the 28th of Sha'ban 456 H to coincide with the 15th of August 1064 AD. The death of Ibn Hazm was enough to make people feel lost and touched. In fact, the Caliph Manshur al-Muwahidi, the third caliph of the Bani Muwahid, was pensive at seeing Ibn Hazm's departure, saying, "We are all Ibn Hazm's family."
