Surah Naba

There are 40 verses in this ‘makki’ Surah.

1. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said: One who recites this Surah and memorizes it, would not be subjected to reckoning or the Day of Judgment, except to the extent of the writing of Surah Naba and he would be admitted to Paradise.

2. Imam as-Sadiq (a.s.) said: If one recites “Amma Yatasaa- aloon” (Surah Naba) daily for one year then a year would not pass but he would have the honor of paying homage to the Holy House of Allah, if Allah wills.

Surah an-Naba (The Great Event)

There are 40 verses in this ‘makki’ Surah. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that whoever recites this Surah everyday will be fortunate enough to visit Masjidul Haraam in the same year. The Holy Prophet (S) said that memorization of this Surah carries great reward.

If this Surah is recited with the intention of staying awake, then the reciter will not fall asleep and if it is recited before travelling then the journey will become easy. Drinking water in which this Surah has been dissolved cures stomach problems.

i) Whoso recites this surah daily for one year he would go to hajj in the following year.

ii) Whoso recites this surah and memorises it would not be examined on the day of reckoning more than the time in which this surah is written down, or a salawat is recited or a salat is prayed, then he would be sent to paradise.

iii) Whoso writes this surah on paper and wears it as a tawiz around the neck lice would not enter in his hair; and there would be a marked increase in his energy, strength and prestige.

iv) Whoso recites this surah to remain awake would be able to do so.

v) Whoso recites this surah in journey in the night for protection, his belongings would not be stolen by robbers or thiefs throughout the night.
