Barrie Transit ON Demand is here. Download the app. Book your ride. Get moving now!

Barrie Transit ON Demand is a new way to provide transit service in Barrie. This pilot project offers on demand, shared-ride transportation intended to connect people along Barrie Transit bus route #11 – from Huronia Rd. and Lockhart Rd. to Bayview Dr. and Little Ave.

Transit ON Demand is a transit service without a fixed schedule where buses only make stops upon request via a mobile app. Riders simply select a time for their ride and their start location. The app will let riders know when to expect a ride, where to wait and when they will reach their destination. Trips can be booked up to 7 days in advance with payment made in the app.

Benefits to Transit ON Demand include:

- On demand trip booking up to 7 days in advance

- Shorter pick-up windows

- Faster trips as stops only occur as requested

- More efficient service

How it works:

- Download the free “Barrie Transit ON Demand” app from your app store

- Enter your starting point and destination (these areas are highlighted in the app)

- Select the date and time you want to ride up to 7 days in advance

- Provide rider information (number of riders, adult/youth, wheelchair, etc.)

- Select your payment option: pass, ticket, transfer or pay in the app with a credit card

- The app lets you know when to expect your ride and where to wait
