No you don't. Play ranked matches until you get enough coin to buy the campaign. 1000 gold will get you in second campaign .

just another digital mtg fanboy/girl that prefers to be spoonfed everything instead of working for it. You have to buy MTG in order to even play it. This game is free and i think you should thank your lucky stars that the devs were kind enough to allow us to purchase content with either cash OR "hard earned" gold.

Honestly I think the system in place makes this game far more accessible than Hearthstone. Not to mention the rather large 150+ card Skyrim expansion that dropped for free on the 29th of June. Oh and to further disprove your little paywall argument, you can purchase 50 card decks from the Skyrim expansion that have some of the best cards for gold, not cash, they disabled the real currency purchase button for those decks so you have to actually earn them.
