Salmo 9

Great Psalm

1 Lord, I want to give you thanks with all my heart and tell you about all your wonders.

2 In you I will rejoice and be glad, and sing praises to your name, O Most High.

3 When my enemies meet with you, they stumble and are destroyed.

4 For you defended my right and my cause; You have sat on your throne, judging in righteousness.

5 You rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name forever and ever.

6 The enemy was utterly destroyed, forever; you uprooted their cities; no one else remembers them.

7 The Lord reigns forever; established his throne to judge.

8 He himself judges the world in righteousness; governs the people with righteousness.

9 The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in time of trouble.

10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, never abandon those who seek you.

11 Sing praises to the Lord, who reigns in Zion; proclaim among the nations his deeds.

12 He who asks for an account for shed blood does not forget; he does not ignore the cry of the oppressed.

13 Mercy, Lord! See the suffering caused me by those who hate me. Save me from the gates of death,

14 so that I may sing praises to you at the gates of the city of Zion, and there I may rejoice in your salvation.

15 The nations fell into the pit they dug; their feet were caught in the noose they hid.

16 The Lord is known for the justice he executes; the wicked fall into their own snares.

17 Let the wicked return to the dust, all you nations that forget God!

18 But the poor will never be forgotten, nor will the hope of the needy be disappointed.

19 Arise, Lord! Do not allow the mortal to triumph! Judged be the nations in your presence.

20 Give them terror, O LORD; let the nations know that they are but human beings
